5 Must Visit Wineries in the Sacramento Region!

You do NOT have to drive to Napa for great wine! There are so many wonderful wineries just East of Sacramento in Nevada, Placer, El Dorado, and Amador Counties. In this blog, we stick to Placer and El Dorado counties. I personally, am not a huge wine connoisseur. I enjoy a glass of wine from time to time, but for me, it’s more about the venue and the scenery.  Nothing like sitting outside on a comfortable, warm(ish) day with a glass of wine and good company. So, here are 5 wineries (and two bonus wineries) we recommend.

1. **Twin Rocks Estate Winery, Granite Bay**:

Just a beautiful setting in front of the pond!

Nestled in the picturesque Granite Bay area, Twin Rocks Estate Winery offers a serene escape for wine enthusiasts. Surrounded by rolling hills and beautiful vineyards, this winery specializes in producing exquisite wines that capture the essence of the region. Visitors can enjoy a leisurely tasting experience, savoring the flavors of their carefully crafted varietals while taking in the stunning views. Twin Rocks has a food truck on site with wonderful food. You can plan your day of wine tasting knowing that you can have lunch here. Be sure to check in when arriving at Twin Rocks, as they prefer to seat you and your party to ensure the best customer service. NOTE: Children are not allowed at Twin Rocks, except for Sundays, when it’s “family day.”

2. **Wise Villa Winery, Lincoln**:

You can see forever when sitting outside at Wise Villa Winery!

Wise Villa Winery stands as a testament to the art of winemaking in Placer County. This family-owned estate is known for its commitment to producing high-quality, handcrafted wines. Guests are invited to explore the expansive vineyards and elegant tasting room, where they can sample a diverse selection of wines, from crisp whites to bold reds. The winery's dedication to sustainability and innovation shines through in every sip. Wise Villa offers some beautiful views of Placer County. Wise Villa Winery is the only winery in Placer County with a sit-down restaurant on the property, a Tuscan-themed dining experience.

3. **Casque Wines, Loomis**:

Tucked away in the charming town of Loomis, Casque Wines offers a boutique winery experience with a personal touch. Their small-batch approach allows for meticulous attention to detail, resulting in wines that are both distinctive and memorable. Whether enjoying a tasting flight in their cozy tasting room or strolling through the vineyards, visitors are treated to a warm and inviting atmosphere. Casque Wines is a hidden gem for those seeking exceptional wines in an intimate setting. There are no real “views” of the land at Casque, but, nonetheless, it is inviting and intimate in their patio area. Right next door is the Flower Farm Cafe, where you can get a sandwich or salad. You cannot bring your wine over from Casque to the Cafe, nor can you bring any alcohol from the Cafe to the winery. They each have their own alcohol license, and they DO monitor this.

4. **Lava Cap Winery, Placerville**:

Tastes like butter! And, oh, those views!

Lava Cap Winery, located in Placerville, the heart of El Dorado County, is a beloved destination for wine enthusiasts seeking a taste of the Sierra Foothills. With a legacy dating back to the 1980s, this winery is renowned for its award-winning wines that reflect the unique terrain of the region. From their signature Zinfandels to crisp Chardonnays, Lava Cap Winery offers a diverse range of wines to please every palate.

5. **Boeger Winery, Placerville**:

Boeger Winery provides a lush setting with abundant seating!

We just LOVE the vibe at Boeger Winery. Boeger Winery, a pioneer in the El Dorado wine region, is a must-visit destination for wine lovers. Established in 1972, this historic winery has been producing exceptional wines for decades. Set amidst towering pine trees and lush vineyards, the estate exudes a rustic charm that invites guests to unwind and savor the moment. Whether exploring the underground wine caves or sampling their renowned Barbera and Zinfandel, visitors are treated to an unforgettable wine experience at Boeger Winery.

Here are two additional wineries that we enjoy!

6. **Dono dal Cielo Vineyard, Newcastle**:

Love the patio setting at Dono dal Cielo Vineyard!

Dono dal Cielo Vineyard, located in the charming town of Newcastle, is a hidden gem in the Sacramento region. This family-owned winery takes its name from the Italian phrase meaning "gift from heaven," and indeed, their wines are a heavenly delight. With a focus on sustainable farming practices and attention to detail, Dono dal Cielo produces small-batch wines that showcase the unique terroir of the area. Visitors can enjoy a peaceful tasting experience, surrounded by vineyards that seem to go on forever, we enjoy having a picnic here. We love the covered picnic tables up the hill, but, you should bring some lawn chairs too. Google maps can get you a bit lost, so, be sure to watch our YouTube video, near the end, for directions.

Ciotti Cellars, nestled in the heart of Lincoln, is a boutique winery known for its artisanal approach to winemaking.
