Family Friendly Camping at Inn Town Campground

We are not campers. We don’t own an RV or a 5th wheel.  We prefer more of a, let's just say, “luxurious stay,” however, “glamping” has caught our attention recently.

Glamping is where you stay, typically in a tent made of canvas, that provides some of the luxuries of a hotel room. You can expect a full, queen, or king size bed.  There will be chairs and a small refrigerator likely as well as some heating or cooling accommodations.

More recently, a number of camping grounds in Northern California have realized the opportunity that beholds them in providing glamping tents on their properties in addition to the camping amenities and RV hook ups.  A place where anyone would enjoy staying in whatever fuels their outdoor desire.

One of these places in Northern California is the Inn Town Campground up in Nevada City, California, in Nevada County.  Lore has it that glamping first started at Costanoa KOA Campground in Pescadero along the California coast.  Inn Town owners Dan and Erin Thiem confirmed that they got the idea of glamping from visiting Costanoa.  So it began in 2016, a labor of love, a family friendly campground in the Gold Country with all sort of accommodations.

What does Inn Town Campground have to offer??

Inn Town Campground offers 25 glamping tents, 50 campsites where you can pitch a tent, and 14 RV sites (full hook ups) and 4 sites that are water and electric only.

The campground also offers an indoor communal area with a full kitchen and dining available, a tv, a game room, and a little Camp store.  There is also a wonderful pool for those warm summer days.  Indoor and outdoor showers are available, a BBQ area, laundry and WiFi.  The best thing is that the place is CLEAN! Clean restrooms and clean showers!

Another perk of Inn Town Campground, is that there are rules.  Quiet time is at 9pm, and staff make sure of this.  Often at state or federal camp grounds, noise and partying can be a problem.

Inn Town Campground is definitely a family friendly place (also, outdoor movies are shown during the peak season). I have spoken with guests over the number of times we have stayed there, and the consensus from these families, is that one, it’s a perfect location if you may be new to camping, and secondly, the diversity of guests staying. They feel safe at Inn Town Campground.

How much is to stay at Inn Town Campground?

Inn Town Campground is a great place to start if camping is new to you and your family. Camping runs from $40-$50 per night, RV hookups are $50-$68 per night, and glamping runs from $85-$180 per night. Camping spots are a "bit" more pricier than most state of federal camping sites, but again, attention to detail and the staffing at Inn Town Campground makes paying a couple more dollars well worth the visit.

The eclectic downtown of Nevada City is a short walk away with its historical buildings and restaurants and shops, and there are beautiful trails and lakes within a short drive. Be sure to ask the staff about recreational opportunities.

Camping and RV sites are open year round. Glamping is closed during the Winter months. Do yourself a favor, and check out Inn Town Campground. Groups are welcomed, so bring your friends and family. You won't be disappointed. Watch our YouTube video here, a tour of the grounds.
